Meet Sage, a glaucomatous blind Labrador who is a senior citizen. The canine with vision impairment vanished for a full week last month. Beth Cole, the dog’s owner from Boulder Creek, California, claimed that her family had gone to bed when the 12-year-old dog vanished on February 24. The dog, however, was able to make it back home, all because of this nice off-duty firefighter.

First, the Cole family unsuccessfully begged everyone they knew to assist in locating the lost dog. They were getting closer to anticipating the worst with each hour that passed. They were aware that the area was home to numerous mountain lions. We searched day and night for a week with the assistance of our neighbors and other neighborhood members. We searched everywhere,” Cole said.

Sage was found by off-duty firefighter Dan Estrada while hiking: “At first I thought it was a waste bag in the river… [She] was lying there motionless in this stream – her chin just above water level.” Estrada said: “When we saw she was alive, I jumped in the stream and cuddled her.”
