Employees of New Mexico’s High Plains Humane Society (HPHS) have long been committed to helping homeless animals.
They often photograph shelter dogs and post the images online to increase the animals’ exposure to those who are interested in adopting pets.
The HPHS volunteers snapped this shot of a de.vas.ta.ted dog on one of their visits to a partner shelter.
The puppy can be seen through the bars of her cage, hoping that someone would take pity on her and offer her a loving home.
The world’s animal lovers had their spirits broken when the HPHS posted this image online.
People saw the dog and immediately wanted to adopt it despite its sad, defeated expression.
A lady was selected from the pool of hopefuls to be the dog’s new owner, and the animal quickly adjusted to its new surroundings and became a happy infant.
This is fantastic news, and we couldn’t be happier about it. It is our sincere wish that all dogs in shelters get the loving homes they so well deserve.
