Recovering from an addiction can be difficult, but having a supportive loved one by your side can be helpful.

No one ever said it has to be a human either. Pets are often wonderful companions for people who are suffering from additions. There is just something so kind and calming about animals.

PJ was recovering from addiction when he decided to do something nice and adopt a rescue dog.

According to The Dodo, he figured if he was changing his life, why not do the same for a little furry friend? And that is how he ended up adopting Clove, a dog who had nearly faced euthanization twice.

The poor dog was so traumatized, she was quite shy when she was adopted. In fact, Clove couldn’t even look at him when he first adopted her.

But, PJ wasn’t going to let her past define her future. He decided that he was going to show her what life could be like now that she was free. And he did!

As PJ explained to The Dodo, “The biggest thing that she’s taught me is to live in the moment. Despite everything that she’s gone through she’s allowed me into her life.”

Together, the two of them ended up saving each other’s lives. And it was so touching to witness
