Simon, a border collie who was still recovering from his injuries, approached Sammie, a boxer mix who was only four months old, and delicately placed his paw on top of Sammie’s. It appeared as though Simon knew exactly what Sammie had been going through after a medical treatment at Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, despite the fact that the two dogs’ rescues occurred several weeks apart from one another.
According to Jackie O’Sullivan, co-founder of Rescue Dogs Rock NYC and one of the people quoted in the Bored Panda article, “They met at the vet, and Simon immediately created this amazing animal connection with Sammie.” Sammie has been through the ringer, and his protector is watching out for him. The unfortunate dog was not only covered with spray paint, but he also had a bullet lodged in his head and was pulled by a car. Always concerned, Simon makes frequent visits to see his young playmate. Sammie has a long way to go before she is in the same condition as Simon, who is on the road to recovery and will be available for adoption soon.
O’Sullivan added that because Sammie recently had surgery, it is too soon to tell if he would be able to make a full recovery. “We are not sure yet” It will take the veterinarian two weeks to determine whether or not his leg can be salvaged. Infection is the primary cause for concern. It is possible that he will lose one or both of his legs, but we are doing everything we can to save them.
