When the chain link door shut, the harsh truth set in: Electra’s family had abandoned her in this strange, frightening refuge, and they were not coming back for her.

Thankfully, the video of her heartbreaking response went viral, and she was swiftly adopted. However, millions of animals face this fate every year when they are brought into shelters. Most will perish because no one will come from them.

But maybe you will. Perhaps you will be the one to save a life today. Consider fostering if you are unable to adopt. Taking one dog or cat home temporarily frees up room to rescue another. Every day, hundreds of animals find new homes because to fostering and networking.

Electra was taken to the Inland Valley Humane Society & SPCA in California and placed with foster mom Adriane Silvano. She fell in love with this blue girl’s expressive face right away and wanted to make it official.

“I simply fell in love with her the first time I saw her – aw! – and I knew it was going to be a foster failure,” Silvano told Fox8.

She’s all grins, wags, and kisses now. Go to your local shelter now to help an Electra!
